I am a religion reporter based in New York City, raised in an irreligious Indian household amid the deeply religious communities of Lubbock, Texas. My interest in religion, viewed from an outsider’s perspective, has consistently influenced my work as both an artist and journalist. My previous reporting has explored the necropolitical aspects of Israeli colonization of Palestine, the communalization of India’s occupation of Kashmir, and the rise of the Hindu right wing.

As a fellow, I am eager to pursue stories that examine the intersection of politics and religion in a local context, as well as explore the diverse South Asian diasporas in California.
